David Mallinger Takes Control Of Corby Town FC
Corby Town Football Club are pleased to announce a further re-structuring of the club's board that will see David Mallinger, the son of the former Chairman Peter Mallinger who sadly passed away in January, become a director.
David, the inventor of Kickmaster, has become the club's new Acting Chairman following the resignation of Les Manning, who had been the Chairman since Peter's death, and directors Mick Leech and David Dunham. Graham Starmer, Ian Hopewell and Chief Executive Helen Thompson will remain on the board.
Mallinger is the former General Manager of Electric Mobility Corp. Canadian Operations and is now Director of North American Operations for FootballCV, the football trials business that he and his father Peter founded in 2000 with Starmer.
Les Manning and Mick Leech have both donated their shares in the football club to allow David Mallinger and his fellow director at FootballCV, Graham Starmer, to take a controlling interest.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to continue the good work my father started at Corby in 2007 and to ensure a fitting legacy at Rockingham Triangle in his memory,” David commented.
“I would also like to place on record my thanks, particularly to Les Manning, David Dunham and Mick Leech for the tireless work and contribution they have made to the club, especially since my father’s death. They have all been offered roles as Non-Executive Directors, which they have accepted, so we will continue to benefit from their expertise.
“We are very positive about the future of this football club otherwise we wouldn't be here.
“We would like to thank the supporters for standing by the club during this period and it isour intention, as guardians of Corby Town Football Club, that their loyalty will be rewarded in the future with everything that we're aiming to achieve.”
In addition to the changes at board level, the Steelmen are pleased to welcome FootballCV to the Rockingham Triangle, subject to official confirmation from Corby Borough Council later this week. The UK's first private Academy also has a base at Nene Park and will be expanding its operation into Corby in the summer.
FootballCV Managing Director Starmer added: “The opportunity to develop our Academy at a second venue in Northamptonshire will be very beneficial for all parties. Having access to two superb stadiums with such excellent training facilities will greatly help the development of the Academy players. We just need to dot the i's and cross the t's, which we are confident will be completed in the next few days.
“With the new stadium and the new board these are very exciting times for Corby Town Football Club and for the town itself. We are looking forward to maximising the opportunities that they bring to the benefit of the club.”
The Steelmen can also confirm that they have appointed Final Third Sports Media, who already work with the Football League, Professional Game Match Officials Ltd and a number of professional clubs, to manage the club's media operation.
